What conditions must students meet in order to do an Internship?
Students must have completed the last semester of their studies and must have successfully attended 2/3 of all modules of their Programme of Study, provided that in the due modules there are no specialty modules included. In any case, they should be informed by the Secretariat of their Departments whether they are eligible for an Internship.
Who runs the placement matching process? What do we need to provide the host entity on the first day of our placement?
The placement of the students and the appointment of the supervisors are determined by the Three-member Internship Committee after examining all the students’ applications.
Once the selected students have been notified about their placement and before they start the Internship, they must proceed to the Internship Office in order to hand in the students’ documents (photocopies of their Tax Identification Number, ID and bank account) and to receive the forms that is required to be completed by the host entity and returned to the Internship Office (contracts, ATLAS forms).
Thereafter, they need to apply to the Unified Social Security Fund [EFKA] of their district (with photocopies of the contract, their ID and their TIN), in order to register and get a Social Security Fund [IKA] Registration Number and to get insured following the insurance process.
Who are the academic supervisors, should the interns contact them?
The name of the academic supervisor is mentioned in the student placement report. After the students have been notified by the Internship Office, they should contact their academic supervisors and let them know about the name of the host entity they are employed with, the name of the person of the host entity supervising the student and their phone number. Also, any question the student has regarding the internship logbook is addressed to the competent supervisor, who at the end of the Internship Programme will have to check it.
The Internship Office of the University of Patras in order to provide better services for the interns whose training takes place outside the campus, also operates offices outside the campus.
